April 15, 2015 Newsletter

Parents,

    

    We are working hard on reviews for testing, and we do appreciate those students who come to school every day, to help themselves prepare for the SAGE test.  We ask that students do continue to be on time and present every day for the rest of April, due to review and taking the actual SAGE tests.  Please pay attention to your child’s testing times that we sent home with them last week.  If you know that your child will be missing a day of testing, please let us know as soon as you can, so we can make sure we find another time for them to take the test.

    We highly encourage students to stay caught up this quarter.  So, if you notice your child missing any assignments, please remind them to get the items they are missing, into their teacher, as soon as they can.  It is better to stay caught up at the beginning of the quarter, instead of playing catch up, at the end.

     We have lots of fun Reading activities coming up next month.  The Reading Celebration is coming up on May 1st. This will be held during school and will be a lot of fun. We have our “Battle of the Books” competition coming up on May 8th from 12:30-2:30, so encourage your child to get those battle books read, as soon as they can.  We could really use some parent volunteers for this activity.  If any of you would like to volunteer, please let your child’s teacher know, and they can let you know what you will need to do to help for this activity.  Our last day for Reading Revolution reports will be on May 11th, so READ, READ, READ!!

    On Monday, May 11th we will be going to Zion National Park, for our last field trip. We will be leaving the school at 9:00 AM and will return at 3:15, just in time for students to go home for the day.   If you would like to help with this field trip, please let your child’s teacher know that you are interested.  We will be hiking “Emerald Pools”  and going to the I-MAX theater to watch “Treasure of the gods”.  The cost for the movie is $3.00.

     If any of you are interested in your child attending an Art, Music and Me art camp for kids this summer, you can look up the information for this on Mrs. Payne’s blog.  It will be held June 15-19th and June 22-26th.
