            NEWSLETTER

We can’t believe that this year is almost over!  We have enjoyed spending this year with your wonderful children.

We will have our Judicial award tomorrow, Thurs., May 14 in the afternoon.  This is for students who read all eight genres.  It is an ice-cream sundae party.  The Congressional award, popcorn and movie party will be Fri., May 15 in the afternoon.  The Presidential award, Breakfast in the Park, will be on Mon., May 18.  Students will take a bus to the city park at 8:50 AM for breakfast and will walk back to school.

Please send in your child’s Famous American costume on Friday for costume check.  Make sure your child has his/her part memorized.

Please have your child come to school dressed as his/her Famous American on Tuesday, May 19.  We will perform at 10:00 for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grades and again at 2:00 for 4th grade and parents. Students need clothes to change into during the lunch hour if the costume is difficult to wear all day.  The program should last about an hour and you may take your child home afterwards.  Remember to have your child take down his/her portrait and take it home.

All missing work needs to be turned in by Monday, May 18 in order to earn Worker’s Holiday, which is Wed., May 20.  This will be Tent Day.  Students bring and set up their own tents.  They may bring treats and games.  They may form groups from all three classes. Tents may be set up before 8:45 or at 9:30, after the awards assembly.  Tents will be taken down at about 1:10. Please mark whether your child will eat school lunch or bring his/her own lunch.

The 4th and 5th grades will be having a track meet at Cedar High School on Thurs., May 21.  Please come to our classroom as usual. We will walk to the high school together. We can use some parent volunteers to help at the track meet.  Please e-mail us to let us know if you can help from about 9:15-1:30.  You can meet Mrs. Little at the high school track to get your instructions. Have students dress appropriately and bring water. Please mark whether your child will eat school lunch(sack lunch) or will bring his/her own lunch or buy food at the snack bar.

After the track meet we will return to the school to do an awesome art activity with Mrs. Davis @ 2:00.  Each student needs to bring in a plain t-shirt that will be permanently painted.  Please send the t-shirt in by Monday. **Mrs. Davis has also sent a note today.

Please check for library books and other items that need to be returned to school.

Friday, May 22 is the last day of school.  School will end at 2:30.
