FIFTH GRADE NEWSLETTER/ DECEMBER 16, 2015

Dear Parents,
Time seems to move quickly.  When we return after Christmas, we will have the final grades for 2nd term, on Wed., Jan.13.  Our mid-year SEP conferences will be during the first week of February.
We will have individual class Christmas parties on Fri., Dec. 18
in the afternoon.  Please send in the items that you have volunteered to bring for the party, if you have not already done so.  Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Little’s classes should bring in a wrapped gift for the gift exchange game.  Our last day before Christmas is Fri., Dec. 18.  We return to school on Mon., Jan. 4.
The second book report for 2nd quarter for Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Little’s  classes will be due by Jan. 12.  Mrs. Payne’s student’s will continue to turn in reading journal’s every Wednesday.  Hopefully students will take the opportunity to read a lot during the Christmas break, and work on extra book reports for the Reading Revolution Awards that will be given at the end of the year. Remember that it will take many more than 2 books each quarter to earn the fun rewards in May.
We also need students to practice typing skills.  The writing tests are much less stressful for the students who feel confident typing.  They can type stories, letters to Grandma, or whatever they want.
LOST AND FOUND will be donated to Deseret Industry after Friday.  It is quite full, are you missing anything?
Mrs. Little had a successful knee replacement on Monday, and we will be happy when she can return to school in January.
We do appreciate the great support we receive from parents.
We want to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year!
                            Thank you,
                            Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Little,
                            & Mrs. Payne

P.S.  Please look for the bright red verification slip to sign, stating that you have read this newsletter and have looked at your child’s grade on Power School. The next newsletter will be posted on Jan. 13.
