5th Grade Newsletter September 17, 2014
Dear Parents,
Well, we are already half way through first quarter, and time is flying by quickly. Before you know it, this quarter will be done and over with.
We ask that you view the attached progress report to check for any missing assignments that your child may have. If your child has any missing assignments, a half sheet of bright yellow paper will also be attached, showing those missings items. Students will need to return their missing work into their teacher by Friday, September 19th in order to qualify for our first Worker’s Holiday. Worker’s Holiday will be on Tuesday, September 23. It will be a kickball tournament with a treat. Students that do not have all of their work turned into their teacher, with an 80% or better, will not qualify for this Worker’s Holiday. They will remain in a classroom to work on unfinished assignments.
Our first field trip is coming up on Monday, September 22, as well. Please have your child come to school that day with a flashlight, water bottle, good hiking shoes, long pants and they might want to bring a jacket or sweatshirt; it does get a lot colder up on the mountain, than it does here in town. It is optional to bring a hat, but students can wear hats on this field trip. If it is a hot day, students may want to bring sunscreen, as well. We will leave the school at 9:00 AM and will return to the school at 3:30 PM.
Please notice your SEP time attached to this letter. If you cannot make the time that has been scheduled for you, please write your name in a one of the blank times that would work for you, or email the teacher. SEP’s will be during the week of Monday, September 29 through Friday, October 3, 2014. School will be dismissed at 2:30 each day, including Wednesday. We look forward to your visit. Your child’s next progress report and newsletter will be handed to you at the conference.
Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Little are still working on getting their Blog up and running, but hope to have it ready to go soon. If you haven’t sent an email to your child’s teacher yet, please do so soon. We would like to get those groups set up, so we can start keeping you updated on upcoming events through emails, instead of letters.
We have really enjoyed the year, so far. Thanks so much for your help with your child; we do appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Little, Mrs. Payne, and Mrs. Williams ____________________________________________________________________
I have read the September 17 newsletter and have gone over my child’s progress report with him/her.
